The Village Board voted to approve an ordinance granting a special use to 1700 Algonquin Inc. to continue operating an automobile service station at 1700 Algonquin Road.
The Plan Commission held a public hearing Dec. 17, 2025, and recommended approval. At the Jan. 5 board meeting the petitioner identified himself for the record: "My name is James Johnson. I'm the owner of the store," and confirmed that operations will remain the same and that there are no planned changes to the building, site layout or services.
Trustees asked a brief series of procedural questions about why a special use was required; staff and trustees noted that gasoline stations are listed as special uses under village zoning. The board called the roll; the motion carried and the ordinance granting the special use was approved.
