District expands tier‑2 supports after referendum; partners provide counseling and short interventions

Staff said CYN has served 71 students so far this year; some students are self‑referred or referred by parents while others are referred by teachers, counselors or deans as an alternative to suspension. The board asked how students are selected and how program effectiveness will be measured; staff said they track attendance and maintain spreadsheets for each group and will assess outcomes at year end. Several board members encouraged broader publicity of the programs to increase uptake.
Administrators said the additional counselors, social workers and psychologists added after the referendum enabled more consistent weekly groups and better follow-up with partner agencies.
