Lakeview Middle School removed from Promise list; district details PLC and early-release strategies

He credited PLCs, targeted intervention programs and curriculum work for the gains.
The presentation outlined three main goals: focused and monitored PLC time, intentional extended-learning-time (ELT) scheduling for remediation (using Read 180 and I-Ready Math for students two or more grade levels behind) and a stronger Tier 1 instructional model supported by the HMH ELA curriculum. Staff described weekly PLC cycles, data boards and coaching supports to sustain improvements.
Separately, district staff reviewed one year of middle-school early-release Wednesdays, which provide protected collaboration time for teacher teams. A presenter said teacher teams value the time and that it supports planning and data-driven decisions; the district also described logistics for student supervision, use of the schedule as leverage for attendance and academic requirements, and plans to continue refining the model.
The board asked for clarifications about teacher workload and community impact; staff said they will continue evaluating logistics while protecting teacher collaboration time. No formal action was required on the updates.
