During new business the council considered an agreement with Port Washington Main Street / Paint On Port to extend an existing mural and voted to approve the contract; the project is scheduled to be painted in June with participation from local artists and school students. The motion to approve was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.
Near the end of the meeting, after the public‑comment period, Alderman Neumeier moved and Alderman Postle seconded a motion to convene in closed session under Wisconsin state statute 19.85(1)(e) to deliberate or negotiate the purchase of public properties and to discuss police‑union collective bargaining strategies and negotiations. The council conducted a roll call vote: Wards 1–6 voted "aye," Ward 7 was absent; the motion passed and the chamber was cleared for closed session.
No final votes on ordinances or TIF approvals occurred that evening; the council scheduled further action on the Pier Street TIF application for Jan. 20.
