York County dissolves interlocal emergency management agreement with Seward County
Summary
The York County Board voted to dissolve its interlocal emergency management agreement with Seward County and begin steps to hire a single county emergency manager; both counties were reported to be in agreement and Seward was taking the same action the same day.
The York County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution to dissolve its interlocal emergency management agreement with Seward County and to pursue establishing a single, York County–based emergency manager position.
County Attorney Gary Olson and staff reported that Seward County planned to consider a matching resolution the same day, and commissioners said the dissolution waives the typical 90-day notification period so the counties could transition more quickly. Board members said they will review and possibly revise the job description and involve local emergency responders — including fire and law enforcement representatives — in the hiring process.
Commissioners also discussed inventory and equipment transfers, including ID cards and keys to storm shelters formerly managed under the joint arrangement. The board voted by roll call to adopt the dissolution resolution.
