Chandler honors four longtime employees at Jan. 5 study session

City manager presented Ryan Peters with a 10-year service recognition, noting Peters joined in 2016 and ‘‘secured over $100,000,000 in grants’’ for roadway, water and transit projects. The manager also noted Peters was promoted to deputy city manager in August 2025 and singled out his work on Chandler Flex transit services and Valley Metro RPTA committees.
Christy, the management services director, recognized Chris Sikora for 20 years with the city. Sikora began in January 2006, later worked as a license inspector and was reclassified in February 2022 to a business compliance associate analyst; presenters highlighted his role in licensing education and municipal software and GIS implementations.
Chief Chapman and staff recognized Kathy Gura for 30 years of service, tracing her career from dispatch and training roles (beginning in 1996) to senior management analyst work in police planning and budget analysis. Presenters noted recent awards, including the 2024 City of Chandler Police Employee of the Year and prior recognition as Law Enforcement Planner of the Year.
Library staff and John Sefton honored Susan (Sue) Van Horn on her retirement after nearly 20 years at the downtown Chandler Library. Presenters credited Van Horn with leadership on the Culture Pass program, overseeing the sunset renovation and mentoring library staff.
Council members and staff said the recognitions underscore continuity and institutional knowledge across Chandler departments as leadership and recruitment trends continue to shape service delivery.
