At the Dec. 17 meeting the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission recommended continued appointments for two Lands Committee representatives, with current members volunteering to keep the borough and city seats. Commissioners moved and the body approved the reappointments by voice vote.
Community Development staff summarized outreach for the Plan2045 comprehensive plan update. Two economic-development workshops (Dec. 9 and Dec. 11) had minimal attendance, but online business and resident surveys remain open through Dec. 31. An open house on arts, culture, history and environment is scheduled for Jan. 22 from noon to 6 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers. Staff provided a contact email (plan2045@kodiakak.us) for stakeholders needing the survey link and noted a code enforcement officer recruitment is active on the borough jobs page.
Staff also reminded the commission that the short-term rental ordinance recommended by Planning and Zoning would go to the Assembly for first reading on Jan. 15, and reiterated the commission’s upcoming work session (Jan. 7) and next regular meeting (Jan. 14).
