Marshall County outlines proposed direct-support grants to local nonprofits totaling tens of thousands

Notable proposed allocations included Extension Service (4‑H) $30,000; Marshall County Christian Services $20,000; Marshall County Homeless Ministry/Remedy Inn $15,000; Marshall County Coalition Against Domestic Violence $10,000; Child Advocacy Center $10,000; and several smaller awards to organizations such as PALS, Liberty Learning, Disabled Veterans groups and ‘Sleep in Heavenly Peace.’ "We're lucky enough to be able to do it another year," Speaker 4 said, and cautioned that such support is not guaranteed annually.
Speaker 4 also said the commission will vote on the listed requests at the next meeting and reminded applicants that they must send a letter describing their organization and needs to be considered for direct support. Commissioners briefly confirmed inspection or eligibility checks for some applicants (for example, alcohol-license inspections for Dollar General stores were discussed separately). The work session discussion was informational and intended to allocate draft amounts for formal action later.
