Staff said the county applied in August and was recently approved by Coosa Valley. The agreement presented at the work session is a formal acknowledgment of membership and does not itself obligate additional county funding beyond the membership terms.
Staff and commissioners discussed appointing two representatives to the Coosa Valley board of directors, suggesting one could be a juvenile prosecutor from the district attorney’s office and the other a commissioner with familiarity in juvenile services or finance. The board meets quarterly; the commission agreed to place names into consideration and return with appointments at the Nov. 12 meeting.
A motion to approve the membership agreement passed by recorded vote; commissioners indicated unanimous approval when votes were read aloud.
No further action on appointments occurred at the Oct. 22 meeting.
