The mayor recommended going with the local black option and asked the council for direction.

Council members debated whether a black finish — which proponents said will age better and look newer — would clash with nearby galvanized features. One council member said black "would look better over time," while others noted most nearby fences are galvanized and a black finish might appear out of place.
