“TVA is willing to put it into their maintenance cycle and do that,” Speaker 2 said, and asked commissioners what the county would be willing to provide at the site — examples included trash pickup and mowing. Speaker 2 recommended that the county clear undergrowth, open boundary lines, and put down some surface material in the small parking area to make the site usable and to demonstrate local commitment.
Commissioners and staff discussed property boundaries and a desire to avoid property disputes. Speaker 2 said TVA could mark the official boundary lines, and the county would avoid touching any land that TVA identified as off limits; staff suggested borrowing equipment from the solid‑waste department to clear vegetation and bring in a few loads of grama as a low‑cost preparatory step.
No formal agreement with TVA was recorded at the meeting; staff said they would offer these local supports to TVA and then report back on TVA’s timeline and any needed approvals or maintenance commitments from the county.
