HR reports rising applications and training numbers; staff to post detailed boards descriptions and prepare ethics-policy amendment

The HR report listed active job postings with large application counts for detention officers, juvenile detention center roles, emergency communications and legal secretary positions. The staff member said vacancy sheets and onboarding activity were being tracked and that the department had processed hundreds of recruitment and onboarding actions in recent months.
On training, the staff member said "we have 1,592 employees trained, 745 on business ethics, 751 on drug free workplace" and reviewed other compliance and benefits activity. The staff member described efforts to compile a comprehensive, 31-page description of boards and committees so applicants understand duties and term lengths; commissioners asked that each board listing include a direct contact and that the draft be sent to legal counsel for review.
A motion was made and the committee voted to send the descriptions to legal counsel (Nick) for review before posting. Later in other business the committee discussed a recent ethics situation and whether to amend the private act governing the ethics committee to add alternates; legal counsel said such a change would be done by resolution and the committee moved to have counsel prepare a resolution to amend the ethics policy for consideration at the next meeting.
