Parks and Recreation Board meeting set; groundbreaking for Agnes A. Major Community Center Friday

The Beaufort County Parks and Recreation Board meets today at 2:30 p.m. at the Burton Wells Center. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Agnes A. Major Community Center is scheduled Friday, Jan. 9 at 10:00 a.m.; Director Eric Brown will welcome guests and Council Member Gerald Dawson will offer remarks.
The Beaufort County Parks and Recreation Board will meet today at 2:30 p.m. at the Burton Wells Center, 1 Middleton Recreation Drive in Beaufort. The bulletin described the board’s countywide role in providing recreational and leisure programming, including sports, cultural activities and park development for youth, adults and seniors.
Separately, the Parks and Recreation Department will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Agnes A. Major Community Center at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at 21 Agnes Major Road in Sheldon. County Parks and Recreation Department Director Eric Brown is scheduled to welcome guests, and Council Member Gerald Dawson (District 1) will offer congratulatory acknowledgments.
