Hayden planning commission approves minutes, elects Sean Taylor chair and Chris Morris vice chair for 2026

The Hayden Planning and Zoning Commission approved consent items and office appointments at its Jan. 5 meeting.

Consent items: Commissioners discussed whether Commissioner Vince Vargas should be recorded as absent at the Dec. 15, 2025 meeting after Vargas said his computer was not working though he could hear the proceeding. Staff explained the minutes reflect absence when an affirmative vote cannot be obtained. A motion to approve the Dec. 15, 2025 meeting minutes and both items on the consent calendar was moved and seconded and approved by voice.

Officer appointments: Under new business the commission nominated and approved new officers for 2026. Sean Taylor was nominated to continue as chair and Chris Morris was nominated and approved as vice chair. Commissioners conducted separate votes for each office; both nominations were approved by the commission.

Next steps: Staff will update the commission roster and distribute calendars. The commission also reviewed upcoming meeting dates and discussed moving the March meeting to March 9. The chair adjourned the meeting.
