The City Council opened and closed a public hearing on the 2025 Benjamin Statler Canal dredge assessment and adopted a resolution confirming the special assessment district.
No property owners or members of the public spoke during the hearing. Council member Frederick moved to adopt the resolution confirming the special assessment district for the Benjamin Statler Canal Dredge; the motion was supported and passed on a 6–0 vote.
Council member Roussy asked whether partial jetty/seawall replacement noted in materials was included in the dredging assessment. Staff and council asserted the ordinance language about maintaining an “artificially created water course” would encompass partial seawall replacement, and council indicated that understanding satisfied the clarification.
The resolution confirms the district for dredging work and related improvements; staff will implement the assessment process consistent with the adopted resolution and applicable ordinance.
