Councilors on Jan. 5 praised the recently completed Wadsworth Boulevard reconstruction but identified several issues that need follow-up.
Councilor Larson welcomed removal of construction cones and said routine trips are now easier, but he noted traffic-signal timing that can leave left turns blocked and expressed concern that trees planted in the median may not survive harsh conditions. He also reported graffiti on 20-foot sound walls on the east side of Wadsworth and said the city would remove it.
Other councilors described driver adjustment to the continuous-flow intersections and noted improved traffic flow for motorists and for bike/ped users when they use pedestrian-actuated buttons. Councilor Oltin recommended a messaging campaign reminding pedestrians and bicyclists to press the crossing button to receive sufficient crossing time.
Councilors and staff said they will work with public works and the contractor to address signal timing and small tweaks while continuing to monitor traffic and safety as drivers adapt to the new configurations.
