York County honors Eagle Scout Cameron Sands for Prospect Hill Cemetery restoration

The board read the proclamation during its regular meeting and presented it to Sands and his father, Mark.
Board President said the proclamation noted that Sands "raised over $6,000 to replace 16 wayside markers" that are part of a walking trail highlighting graves of York civilians and Civil War soldiers. The proclamation also commended Sands for leadership and perseverance in earning Scouting’s highest rank.
The proclamation states that the markers will help visitors learn local history. The board did not call on Sands to speak during the meeting.
The recognition was presented as part of routine business at the start of the board’s Jan. 7 meeting; no formal vote was required for the proclamation. The board and county staff extended congratulations to Sands and to newly sworn county and municipal officials mentioned during the session.
