County Attorney Miss Slusser told commissioners on Jan. 5 that Duke Energy requested an easement on county-owned property off South Brightleaf Boulevard (parcel ID 15J115M) to relocate electrical infrastructure needed for the Neuse River pump station project.
Staff recommended granting the easement to facilitate the pump-station work. Commissioner (speaker 2) moved to grant the easement and a second was recorded. The chair called for voice vote and commissioners responded "Aye;" no opposition was recorded.
Slusser identified the parcel for the public record as parcel ID 15J115M (the former Randy Bird property) and said county staff supports the easement to enable necessary relocations tied to the pump-station project.
Outcome and next steps: The board approved the easement by voice vote. The county will proceed with the property conveyance/relocation steps needed to permit Duke Energy to carry out its electrical work in support of the Neuse River pump station project.
