At the November meeting the Albert Lea Area Schools board moved Policy 712 forward for a final reading in December after a second-reading presentation by Ashley. The policy includes MSBA-recommended revisions and a committee amendment clarifying that video surveillance would not be used in bathrooms or locker rooms; instead, those spaces will be monitored by staff members of the same sex as the occupants.
Ashley said the policy was reviewed by the policy committee and will come back to the board for a final vote in December. "So we would like to bring this forward for a final reading in December," Ashley said.
The board then took a procedural motion to move into closed session pursuant to Minnesota Statute 13D.03 to discuss labor negotiations. A motion to go into closed session was made, seconded and approved by voice vote with no public roll-call recorded in the transcript.
The board announced a Truth in Taxation meeting scheduled for Monday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. following the closed-session motion.
Because the labor negotiations discussion occurred in closed session, no details of that negotiation were recorded in the public transcript.
