Kiski Area School District board elects Jenna Raul president, Don Mellinger vice president

The Kiski Area School District Board of Directors elected Jenna Raul as board president and Don Mellinger as vice president during its reorganization session and subsequent information meeting on Dec. 3, 2025. Both officers were confirmed by voice vote after nominations and motions from board members.

The board opened nominations for president, with a member nominating Jenna Raul (SEG 064) and another member seconding the nomination. A motion to elect was made and seconded and the board approved the motion by voice. After the vote, colleagues offered congratulations to Raul, who responded, "Thank you." The board likewise nominated and approved Don Mellinger for vice president following a motion and second (SEG 112–118).

The meeting also covered committee appointments. The board reappointed the current representative to the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit through the incumbent’s term and selected Mrs. Mellinger as the Northern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center representative after nominations and a roll-call-style selection (SEG 177–245).

Why it matters: board leadership and committee assignments set who will represent the district on interdistrict bodies and who will manage the board’s agenda and committee rosters through 2026. The board amended its schedule to include a tentative July 15 meeting to avoid an August backlog; that calendar change was approved by motion and voice vote and will appear on the posted schedule (SEG 246–537).

The board adjourned the reorganization meeting and called the Dec. 3 information meeting to order, which began with the Pledge of Allegiance before proceeding to superintendent and solicitor reports.
