Lawrence County commissioners accept $500 bid for repository parcel, approve financial items and minutes

The Lawrence County Board of Commissioners met Jan. 6, 2026, and approved routine administrative items including acceptance of a repository parcel sale, the county warrant register and adoption of meeting minutes. The board also entered and accepted written correspondence about an upcoming Department of Environmental Protection permit filing.
The board considered a repository parcel submitted by the tax claim office for property in Pulaski Township: 798 Rainer Road, parcel ID 29-901065. The recorded high bidder was Bruce Rayner at $500. The minutes record that Pulaski Township supervisors voted to accept the bid on Dec. 19, 2025, and the Wilmington Area School Board acted in late 2025; the commission treated the matter as Resolution 1 of 2026 and a motion to accept passed on a roll-call vote. The chair announced a quorum before the roll call.
County financial business included acceptance of the warrant register (also called the check reconciliation register) dated Dec. 29, 2025, which the county comptroller submitted for review. Commissioners moved and seconded acceptance of the register and approved it by roll-call vote. The board next moved to adopt minutes from the Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025 commissioners' meeting; that motion also passed by roll call.
The board recorded one piece of written correspondence from RAR Engineering on behalf of 3 Rivers Aggregate, dated Dec. 22, 2025, notifying the county that the company intends to submit a permit application to the Department of Environmental Protection for an approximately 126.4-acre noncoal sand-and-gravel surface mine on properties in Plain Grove Township. The correspondence describes the proposed permit area as located west of West Park Road and north of Corey Road. The chair noted that state law requires the county be notified of such filings; the board voted to accept the correspondence for the record.
There were no members of the public in attendance and no public comments were taken. Following announcements and commissioner reports the board adjourned.
The board did not take further formal action on the permit notice beyond accepting the correspondence into the record; no public hearing or vote on permitting was held at the Jan. 6 meeting.
