Council approves temporary liquor permits, Fasching decorations and a small fire-department donation
Summary
Council approved temporary liquor permits for a Feb. 5 Chamber event and a Jan. 9 hockey event, authorized Fasching decorations along Minnesota Street, and accepted a $50 donation to the fire department.
At its Jan. 6 meeting, the New Ulm City Council approved a set of community permits and small ceremonial items.
The council authorized a temporary on-sale intoxicating liquor license for the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce for an event on Feb. 5, 2026, at 105 North Minnesota Street, contingent on compliance with city and state requirements. Separately, the council approved a temporary on-sale liquor permit for the New Ulm Sleepy Eye Hockey Association to sell alcohol at the New Ulm Civic Center on Jan. 9, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., also subject to city and state compliance.
The council also adopted a resolution allowing the Narren of New Ulm to hang decorative cloth strips on lampposts along Minnesota Street from 1st South Street to 4th North Street in observance of Fasching from Feb. 8 through March 8, 2026. Additionally, the council accepted a $50 donation from Glenn and Maureen Miller to the fire department.
Each measure passed by roll call or voice vote as shown in the meeting record; all were presented as routine approvals subject to standard compliance checks.
