Roger and Gabriela Interiano appeared before the Town of Babylon Accessory Apartment Review Board Jan. 6 to seek permission for an accessory apartment at 17 Gloucester Drive.
Town staff recorded an affidavit of posting and an inspection date of Dec. 1, 2025, and applicants provided identification and utility documents. During the hearing the board read a letter from the Wheatley Heights Civic Association, submitted by President Christopher Black, that said the required town notification sign was not posted on the property for the required 10 days prior to the hearing.
Gabriela Interiano told the board the sign had been up previously and that wind may have blown it down. A neighbor and the civic association’s letter said neighbors had not been adequately informed. The board concluded the notification requirement had not been met and voted to table the application and reserve decision so the Interianos could ensure the sign remained posted for the full 10‑day period.
The board voted to table the matter and set the next hearing date for Jan. 20, 2026. The chair told the applicants they must keep the notice sign posted until the board acts and advised that if the sign blows down again the applicant must return to obtain a new sign and continue the posting period.
What remains unresolved
The Interianos must ensure the required sign remains posted for the 10‑day notice period. The board will reconsider the application at its Jan. 20 meeting; there was no final approval at the Jan. 6 session.
