Council approves updates to New Ulm cemetery rules to cover new columbarium and QR code use

Hoffman reported that revisions were needed because the new columbarium installed at the cemetery contains double niches and the city is beginning to use a QR code system for cemetery records and information; the Monument Cemetery Commission reviewed and unanimously recommended the revised rules at its Dec. 15 meeting. Hoffman summarized the changes and indicated no further staff report was needed.
A councilmember moved to approve the minor revisions and the council carried the motion by voice vote. The approved changes are intended to codify rules for double-niche columbarium placement and to establish parameters for use of QR codes connected to cemetery records.
