Following an executive session, Middletown City Council returned to open session and approved a broad slate of board and commission appointments, liaison assignments and the appointment of a vice mayor.
The mayor moved to appoint Michael A. Sullivan, Steven Stockmeyer and Tom Rudolph to the Airport Commission; Ruth Lolly to the Board of Health and Environment; Lisa George and Stephanie Freeman to the Cemetery Board; Deborah Houser, Marie Edwards, and John James to the Library Board; Matthew Armbruster to the Park Board; Stephanie Freeman, Michael Taylor and Kevin Puckett to the Building and Housing Appeals Board; Greg Hall to the Historic Commission; Corey Carter and Gerald Heidenreich to the Board of Zoning Appeals; and a set of other appointments and liaison assignments across planning, regional and advisory bodies. Council voted on each nomination by roll call and recorded yes votes for nominees appearing on the agenda.
Councilors also approved multiple council liaison appointments (including Steve West and Paul Lawley to various boards) and appointed Joe Mulligan and others to regional seats. The council then moved, seconded and appointed Jennifer Carter to the position of vice mayor by roll call.
All nomination votes recorded in the meeting audio and transcript were approved as presented during the Jan. 6 meeting. Appointees and members seeking additional information were directed to the city's website for application details and to the city manager's office for next steps.
