Public safety panel approves remote attendance and multiple travel requests

The LaSalle County Public Safety committee on Jan. 6 approved Resolution 23-53 to permit remote attendance for two members and authorized multiple out-of-state travel requests tied to training and accreditation.
The committee’s chair opened the meeting in Room 250 and called for votes on remote attendance. The committee approved remote attendance under Resolution 23-53 for Craig Emmett and for Brian Doze by voice vote.
The jail presented results from a recent accreditation audit and requested authorization to send staff to an American Correctional Association conference required by the accreditation process. "We scored 1 point better on our audit than we did 3 years ago, I think, in 97.8%," said jail staff (Speaker 6), who also described a waiver request related to the facility’s lack of outdoor recreation space and explained that portions of the trip (flights and some hotel nights) are reimbursed through the ACA contract.
The committee moved and approved the out-of-state travel recommendation under Ordinance 23-97 for the jail’s accreditation-related training.
Separately, the coroner requested approval to send his chief deputy to the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners conference in Minneapolis, March 1–4, with an estimated cost of $1,638. The committee approved that travel request; the coroner said the expense is covered in the office’s budget.
