Pasco County proclaims January 2026 as Human Trafficking Prevention Month

The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 26-088 on Jan. 6, declaring January 2026 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month in Pasco County and Jan. 11 as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
The resolution, read into the record by the clerk, noted national estimates of trafficking victims and cited county efforts to coordinate law enforcement, nonprofits and service providers. County commissioners commended the Pasco County Commission on Human Trafficking for mandated county staff training, school‑based awareness materials and participation in recent recovery operations.
A commission representative summarized 2025 accomplishments, including training for all county employees, distribution of posters and indicator cards to fire stations, school trainings on sextortion, collaboration with law enforcement and participation in multiagency recoveries. Commissioners thanked staff and community partners and encouraged public participation in upcoming awareness events.
The proclamation was adopted by voice vote and the board invited representatives for photos after the vote.
