Council approves four-year Motorola maintenance contract for radio systems

Mentor City Council approved Ordinance 26-OD-002 on Jan. 6, 2026, entering a four-year maintenance and support agreement with Motorola Solutions for the city's radio consoles in the communications center.
Chief Conch explained the legislation authorizes the city to contract for maintenance of its MCC 7,500 radio consoles. "This agreement is a new 4 year agreement extending the previous 4 year agreement that expires 01/31/2026," Chief Conch said, and noted the total cost for the new agreement is "$181,500.02 and spread out over the length of the contract of 4 years." Council voted and the ordinance passed on a roll-call vote.
The agreement extends existing maintenance coverage for the communications center; the administration recommended approval and council adopted the ordinance.
