At an additional meeting of the Cortland City Council, three newly elected council members were sworn into office and the council elected new leadership.

Kevin Kyros, Ali McGregor and Chelsea Monroe each repeated the oath of office affirming support for the constitutions of the United States and the state of Ohio and noting terms that end Dec. 31, 2029. “I, Kevin Kyros, do hereby solemnly swear…,” Kyros said while taking the oath. Chris Wadley also repeated the oath and was sworn in during the session.

The council then moved to select officers. A sitting council member who had served as council president for the past six years said the recent months had brought “an erosion of the synergy we've once had as a council,” and announced they were withdrawing their name from consideration and nominating John Pacuri for council president. “I would like to formally withdraw my name for any consideration of council president and I would like to nominate John Pacuri as council president,” the member said. Nominations for president were seconded, nominations were closed and a roll call vote was conducted. All members present responded in the affirmative and the council congratulated Pacuri on his election.

Council members next nominated Jim Bradley for vice president. That nomination was seconded, nominations were closed and a roll call followed. The transcript records one abstention during the vice-president roll call by Jim Bradley; other members voted yes and the council congratulated Bradley on his election.

Before moving on to other business, a member thanked Kevin for his years of leadership. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.

The meeting transcript does not include a date for the session. The clerk was asked to call roll during both officer elections and the oath statements record the term expiration date as Dec. 31, 2029. The council also referenced the new fire station as a priority when discussing leadership and the council’s work moving forward.
