Ashland council approves purchase of 4.2-acre parcel on US 250 for industrial park expansion
Summary
Council approved Ordinance 2-26 to buy 4.2 acres at 1180 US Route 250 from Gary and Naomi Weber for $250,000, allow current occupants to remain through Dec. 1, 2026, and proceed with annexation and industrial-park expansion plans. The mayor said sale proceeds from prior land sales are expected to fund the purchase.
The Ashland City Council approved Ordinance 2-26, an emergency ordinance authorizing the city to purchase and accept transfer of real property at 1180 US Route 250 (Ashland County parcel I25-006-0-0076-00) for $250,000.
The mayor described the parcel as 4.2 acres owned by Gary and Naomi Weber adjacent to the city’s industrial park, said the property is appraised by the county auditor at just under $200,000, and noted that the sellers asked to remain in the house on the parcel through Dec. 1, 2026. The mayor said city leaders expect to finance the purchase, in part, with proceeds from previous land sales in the industrial park and that annexation will follow to bring the parcel into the city.
Council moved to suspend the rules for three readings and then approved the ordinance by roll call; the item was indexed as Ordinance 2-26.
