Steve Workman was elected council president for 2026 during the Ashland City Council meeting. Council members nominated Workman from the floor and, after he accepted the nomination, the body held a roll-call vote that resulted in Workman's selection.

“I sincerely thank you for your vote of confidence,” Workman said after the vote, adding that he renews the vow he took when first entering the position and that the council’s agenda is one of service and addressing hard issues facing the city.

The meeting followed with the Pledge of Allegiance and a brief executive session later in the agenda before returning to regular business.
