Vibe Checkup, introduced on County Cable’s Community Connections, is a youth-focused mental-wellness program serving sixth- through 12th-graders with digital tools, a podcast and school-based activities designed to make wellness relatable for teens.
Program leader Kimberly Fogg, identified on the broadcast and described as a mental-health first-aid trainer with ties to MCPS, said the program prioritizes “real talk” and early intervention. Vibe Checkup’s Real Talk podcast gives young people a platform to discuss issues and practice coping skills; students involved also learn production, moderation and scripting skills.
The Vybe Checkup app lets students log moods, track feelings over time and share updates with trusted adults such as parents, teachers or counselors. Program speakers emphasized privacy and support rather than surveillance and said the platform has reached schools and youth programs across the county since launching in 2022. Students on the broadcast described reductions in social anxiety and feeling heard when using the program.
The broadcast did not specify participation numbers, funding sources or formal program evaluations; listeners were directed to the program’s website for more information.
