At its Jan. 5 meeting East Point’s council approved several personnel and procedural actions. The council unanimously appointed Matthew Reed to the Planning and Zoning Commission and later reappointed Patricia Levitt (mayor’s appointment) to that commission. Councilwoman Cummings’s nomination of Jasmine Welch to the Electric Advisory Board was approved after a second; the council recorded the votes as ayes.
Council also adopted a motion directing the city clerk to supply a detailed list of vacancies on boards, authorities and commissions so council members could make appointments; that motion passed without dissent. Councilwoman Martin Rogers moved a directive that the city manager provide an update within three days on the timeline for work on a property owned by Willie Jackson; council voted to require the manager to report back within three days.
Later in the meeting council approved the annual general circular designating the South Fulton Neighbor as the city’s primary legal newspaper and the Atlanta Journal‑Constitution as a backup for time‑sensitive emergency notices.
Before adjournment members voted to convene an executive session on multiple legal, personnel and real estate items, approved the executive‑session minutes and adjourned the meeting.
