Oak Hills Park Authority unanimously approves tennis license for Serves You Right Incorporated

At a special meeting on Dec. 30, the Oak Hills Park Authority voted unanimously to enter a license agreement with Serves You Right Incorporated to operate the tennis program at Oak Hills Park.

The authority’s facilitator said an ad hoc tennis committee reviewed seven candidates, narrowed the field to three finalists and recommended Serves You Right as the preferred operator. "I propose that the Oak Hills Park Authority enter into a license agreement, with Serves You Right Incorporated to run the tennis operation of Oak Hills Park," the facilitator said when making the motion; Robert Stowers seconded it.

The board conducted a roll-call vote. Allen Dutton, Denise Brown, Jeff Schweitzer, Jennifer McAllister, Richard Dellinger and Robert Stowers each voted in favor. "The motion is carried unanimously," the facilitator said after the vote.

After the vote, members discussed next steps for finalizing the contract. The facilitator said a copy of the proposed agreement has been sent to the vendor representative identified in the record as "Arlen," and that the authority has not yet received a response. Denise Brown asked whether the contract had been sent to Arlen’s lawyer or only to Arlen; the facilitator replied it had been sent to Arlen directly and that the facilitator will sit down with him to review any concerns before final signature.

The facilitator also said staff (referred to as Jim in the record) will notify the vendor and that the authority can revisit the contract at the upcoming meeting on the fifteenth if changes are needed.

Before adjourning, an authority member offered condolences to Denise Brown on the recent passing of her husband, Cliff; several members expressed sympathy. A motion to adjourn was then made, seconded and carried, and the meeting closed with New Year greetings.
