Randy Wesselen took the oath of office and was presented with his certificate of election as Post Falls' new mayor during the Jan. 6, 2026 city council meeting. In brief ceremonies that followed, Aaron Plew, Nathan Ziegler and Mark Luca were sworn in as city councilors and took their seats.
The new full council immediately held internal organization business. With the body fully constituted, council members moved and seconded a nomination to elect Joe Malloy as council president; a roll-call vote approved Malloy for the leadership post.
The swearing-in ceremonies and the brief leadership election followed routine procedural items earlier on the agenda, including the approval of the consent calendar. Officials said the recorded oaths and the public setting were intended to increase transparency for residents watching the meeting.
The council did not take action on an executive session that had been listed on the agenda and adjourned following final comments from members.
