On Item 13(a), the council approved a temporary liquor permit requested by the American Heart Association for a fundraiser scheduled Feb. 26. There was no recorded discussion before the motion and voice vote approving the license.
On procurement matters, the council accepted a Provantage quote for $24,570 to purchase 18 desktop computers for various departments and approved a $10,595.90 quote from Northwest Electric LLC to repair the Pawnee Plunge pool motor. Both items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote with no substantive debate recorded.
The meeting’s most substantive exchange occurred on Ordinance 26-01, a proposed sale of city-owned property described as Lots 6 and 7, Block 117, Original City of Columbus (Platte County, Nebraska), north of 10th Street between 24th and 25th Avenues. An unidentified council member (Speaker 3) urged the council forward, saying, “So tonight, we're moving to sell these lots. They've already been built on. The foundations are in already.” Another unidentified member (Speaker 2) responded that the specific lot being built on had already been sold, indicating a factual disagreement about which lots were covered by the agreement. After the exchange, the council voted to suspend the rules, read the ordinance by number only, and adopt Ordinance 26-01 by voice vote.
The meeting concluded shortly after the ordinance adoption when the presiding official declared the meeting adjourned. No committee referrals, continuances, or further public hearings on the listed items were recorded during the session.
