City Manager Rogers told the Selma City Council on Jan. 6 that staff, working with Granite Solutions, submitted a T‑Mobile grant application for $50,000 to support restroom improvements at Pioneer Village.
Public Information Officer Sam Moreno said he created a short video to illustrate the park's uses and bolster the written grant narrative, and Council members praised the outreach and letters of support that accompanied the application.
"The idea was to just give them a glimpse of actually what the park means for our community and why the bathrooms are much needed," Moreno said.
Rogers and staff described Pioneer Village as a 15‑acre community space that hosts cultural events, concerts and festivals. Council members and staff said the proposal was a team effort and expressed hope it will be funded; no award decision has been announced.
Next steps: staff will notify council when grant results are received and continue coordinating grant‑funded improvements to Pioneer Village.
