Milton council fills mayor pro tempore post and appoints committee members for 2026

Milton’s City Council used the Jan. 5 meeting to make several appointments and fill committee rosters for 2026.
Mayor pro tempore: The council held the annual election for mayor pro tempore after the prior term (Steve Whitaker) expired on Dec. 31, 2025. The council moved to nominate and elect Tim Seder as mayor pro tempore; the nominee was congratulated.
Finance committee: The council appointed Councilmembers Ternes, Mounts and Cedar to the finance committee for calendar year 2026 by motion and vote.
Intergovernmental assignments: The council appointed Councilmember Roberts as primary representative to the Pierce County Regional Council (PCRC) with Councilmember Mounts as alternate; Councilmember Roberts was also named primary to the Sound Cities Association with Mayor White as secondary representative.
Public safety committee: The council appointed Councilmembers Mounts, Whelan and Hall to the Public Works / Community Development / Public Safety Committee for 2026.
Events committee: The mayor presented six applicants for the events committee (Carrie Roberts, Cheryl Reed, Stacy Black, Kaylee Hope, Megan Sheridan and Sabatha Elmstead). The council approved the mayor’s appointments with staggered terms (some to 05/31/2027, others to 05/31/2028); the motion carried 6–0. Applicant Megan Sheridan introduced herself and thanked the council.
All appointments were made by motion and recorded in the meeting with no recorded opposition.
