Judge announces DUI/Drug Court website; county lists events, volunteer needs and Citizens Academy opening

Judge Brian Fortner used the public comment period at the Jan. 6 Douglas County Board of Commissioners meeting to announce the launch of a new website supporting the county’s DUI and drug court program and thanked commissioners and the Start Foundation for help funding the site.
“Later on, you'll be reading an announcement, and that announcement announces the launch of our new website that supports our DUI drug court program in state court,” Fortner said, and he encouraged the public to visit dcstart.org to review eligibility criteria, program requirements, calendars and resources.
Chief Communications Officer Yvette Jones repeated the website information and presented several county announcements: rescheduled work session and commission meeting dates for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday (Jan. 21 and Jan. 22), a joint town hall on Jan. 10 in Douglasville with District 1 Commissioner Henry Mitchell III and Douglasville councilmen Sam Davis and Devittreon Caldwell (no speaker contact beyond the county phone/email given), a tree-recycling event and free sapling giveaway, and a call for volunteers for the Jan. 26 Point-in-Time (PIT) count of people experiencing homelessness.
Jones said the Start Foundation provided funding that supports the DUI/Drug Court program’s website and participant resources.
