Borough Hall staff described a stepped-up outreach plan—including school-based outreach and partnerships with community organizations such as El Puente—and said the office has increased its community-affairs staff to boost hands-on canvassing.
An attendee asked whether Brooklyn Borough Hall would apply a temporary term-limit exemption for members appointed in 2020 so that their end dates would be 2030 rather than 2028. Staff responded that the city charter governs term limits and that Borough Hall will comply with charter rules; the borough president said the office will extend time when legally possible and emphasized a desire to preserve institutional knowledge by encouraging earlier appointees to reapply when eligible.
Officials said they will monitor application tallies during the open period and focus outreach on districts with low returns.
