Sylvania’s City Council completed its organizational duties on Jan. 5, swearing in elected members and electing Mary Westfall as president of council.
Judge Michael Bonfiglio administered oaths to council members who were declared duly elected and qualified. Council then nominated and voted to install Mary Westfall as president of council for the next two years; the motion was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
President Westfall then read the committee and community organization assignments (including representation on the Sylvania Area Joint District, Sister Cities Commission, Sylvania Community Services, Downtown Sylvania Association and the Sylvania Arts Commission). Council moved and adopted those assignments as presented.
Council set a committee‑of‑the‑whole meeting for Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. for further discussion on contract‑authority language in amended administrative code ordinances.
