Page County Jail construction reaches several milestones, permanent power wiring underway

Chris provided a progress update on construction of the Page County Jail, saying work at the site is moving forward and several key systems are being installed. "We did finish. 95% of the CMU walls are up," Chris said, and electricians were completing rough electrical work and beginning wiring for controls.

The update said plumbing and HVAC crews are still installing ductwork and variable-air-volume (VAV) boxes and roughing in plumbing within walls. Chris reported that Mahoney began installing the sprinkler system after receiving pipe, hangers and fittings and that detention-system contractor WSDI had received a second delivery of cell metal, wall panels and security ceilings.

Chris described permanent power as a near-term milestone: a generator was delivered about a month earlier and crews were working on a generator pad and transformer wiring so the building can be powered without temporary lines. "We're gonna start powering up the building. So then we can kinda get rid of all the temp power, and they're gonna pull some lines around the building," Chris said. He also noted that an electrical inspector visited and "everything passed," which clears more work to close walls.

A sally port was completed with trench drains in place and the contractor planned a concrete pour for that area within about two weeks, weather permitting. Chris also said some trades had been delayed by illness; he expected crews to return the following week and for trade coordination to continue as ceilings and security systems are installed.

The update identified JD as the staff contact who had provided a written report but was not present at the meeting. No formal actions or votes were taken on the project at this meeting.
