Riverside council sets 2026 schedule, elects deputy mayor and adopts annual ordinance

Riverside City Council used its Jan. 5 organizational meeting to set 2026 meeting dates, elect a deputy mayor and approve routine housekeeping legislation and appointments.
Council voted to retain its meeting schedule — the first and third Mondays at 6 p.m. — after a motion carried by voice vote. During the same meeting, Councilmember Andy Brown was nominated and elected Deputy Mayor by voice vote following a motion and second.
In formal business, the council adopted Ordinance No. 25-0875, described as the annual codified ordinance cleanup to amend the city code (general offenses and traffic code) and approve replacement pages. After a public hearing with no speakers, the clerk called the roll; Councilmembers Brown, Maxfield, Fry, Gaby, Angel Patterson, Bridal Patterson and Mayor Williams each voted yes, and the ordinance was adopted.
Council also approved resolutions naming the city's representatives to regional organizations. Angel Patterson and Freda Patterson were appointed as the primary representatives to the First Suburbs Consortium with Brenda Fry as alternate. Brenda Fry was named a primary representative to the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) with Andy Brown and Freda Patterson listed as alternates. Staff appointments to the MVRPC technical advisory committee (Kevin Moore and Mister Miller) and staff representation on the Tax Incentive Review Council (Miss Holt and Miss Minnick) were also confirmed.
All recorded votes for ordinances and those roll-call items in the transcript were affirmative; routine motions to approve the agenda and minutes also carried by voice votes.
