Summary
The petitioner requested and the board granted a continuance for the Irons in the Fire Crest subdivision to March 19, 2026. A nearby resident objected to potential lot fragmentation, increased density and traffic safety; staff said they are coordinating with the City of Palmer.
The board granted a continuance to March 19, 2026, for the Irons in the Fire Crest subdivision to allow the petitioner to resolve outstanding issues with the City of Palmer.
Planning staff member Chris Kurland told the board the petitioner had requested a continuance to work through items with the city. During public testimony, resident Greg Symantec described concerns about subdividing built lots into small ‘micro lots’ with tracked homes, potential loss of rural neighborhood character, the effect on property values and safety issues on Helen Road caused by frost heaves and increased traffic. Symantec asked whether all written objections had been included in the handout packet and urged the board to consider neighborhood impacts.
The petitioner’s representative indicated they were requesting a continuance while working with the city. An unidentified board member moved to continue the item to the March 19, 2026 planning board meeting; another member seconded the motion and the board approved the continuance.
Staff noted the continuance is intended to give the petitioner and the City of Palmer time to resolve outstanding technical and jurisdictional items before returning to the board.
