Portage County commission approves amended resource certificates for 2025 and 2026

The chair called the Portage County Commission to order at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and the panel approved the Dec. 29 meeting minutes before moving on to amended certificates of estimated resources for 2025 and 2026.

The meeting’s most substantive business was the commission’s approval of a slate of budget amendments and certificates. The chair presented a fifth amendment for Ravenna City of $1,002,533, bringing Ravenna’s total to $56,996,480, and a sixth amendment for Streetsville City returning $260,863, bringing its total to $55,259,190.84. After those 2025 items were read, the chair said, “Certificates are approved as submitted.”

The commission then considered the first amended certificates for 2026. The chair described a return of $20,487,878 for Fort H County, bringing its total to $361,316,809.98. The Portage County Board of Health’s first amendment was $75,152, for a total of $8,691,455. The Portage Park District’s first amendment was $2,128,597, bringing its total to $8,584,712. The juvenile detention center’s first amendment was presented as $1,838,756. Family and Children First’s first amendment was $209,712, bringing its total to $329,906. Regional planning was listed as a reduction of $35,268, bringing its total to $558,103, and Bridge County Soil and Water showed a reduction of $5,304, bringing its total to $777,132.

After the 2026 items were presented, the chair requested a motion to approve the certificates as submitted; a motion and second were recorded and the ayes were heard, approving the 2026 certificates. The chair then called for a motion to adjourn; a motion and second were made and the meeting was adjourned.
