Mayor Feddy reported at the Jan. 6 meeting that the city has secured two easements needed for the Narrows Road sidewalk project — one at the corner of Narrows Road and Brightleaf Boulevard and a second easement signed at the city building — and that documents were available for signing at the meeting.
As described by the mayor, the project scope includes new sidewalks, repaving Brightleaf Boulevard to Richardson Road and repaving Country Road. City staff said traffic-control changes tied to the project will include a new three-way stop at Mesa Drive and a four-way stop at Country Road, and the speed limit on the affected route will be reduced to 25 miles per hour.
The project is scheduled for advertisement on Thursday, with a bid opening set for Jan. 29. The mayor said the work should be completed by the end of the fiscal year. City Administrator Mark Collier provided parallel capital-project updates for other locations: Concord Drive water-main replacement is complete, Deer Chase/Thorn Tree concrete and ADA work are done with final paving pushed to spring due to weather, Locust Street Park design is wrapping up and will go out to bid Jan. 8 with a Jan. 22 opening, and the Shearborn Park parking-lot project will also be advertised Jan. 8 with bids opening Jan. 22.
City staff said weather-dependent scheduling may change paving and finishing dates and that more detailed project schedules are available from Public Works.
