Town officials discussed several administrative and planning items at the Jan. 6 Select Board meeting, including work related to the RSU withdrawal committee, the upcoming municipal budget timeline and a contract update.
Board members said the RSU was gathering information and considering firms for legal work. Speaker 2 said the RSU had approved an RFP to be sent to multiple firms and that Jan. 8 is the deadline for responses; the RSU withdrawal committee is meeting Jan. 8 in Sumner. The board emphasized that legal advice is needed before finalizing aspects of the withdrawal and budget work.
On budgeting, Speaker 1 said they are compiling the 2627 budget and plan to present it to the budget committee in February and March. Speaker 1 noted that only one member is currently appointed to the town budget committee and that at least two more members are needed for an active committee.
Speaker 1 also reported signing a contract for the "main reservation," and corrected the named party in the contract to the Town of Buckfield rather than a previous committee name; the speaker will scan and send the signed contract once their copier is working.
During public comment, Judy asked whether the Jan. 8 meeting was in Sumner or Buckfield, noting the minutes listed Buckfield; board members confirmed the meeting was scheduled in Sumner and indicated the minutes contained an error.
