Rotary Club honors winners of Carol Stream 2025 holiday-decorating contest

"The 2025 Big Snowball Award goes to the Haigh family located at 928 Dearborn Circle," Slanker said, and invited them to come forward. He announced the 2025 Frosty's Favorite Award for the Kennedy family at 359 Antelope Trail and the 2025 Judges' Favorite for the Bradley family at 802 Thunderbird Trail, noting some winners could not attend because of prior commitments.
Slanker described the contest as a way to "celebrate the season, bring neighbors together, and highlight the incredible pride our residents take in making Carol Stream a warm, welcoming place to live." Trustees and the clerk publicly thanked the Rotary Club for organizing the contest and supporting community traditions.
Trustee Guthrie gave a broader report on "Britney's Trees," reporting the program collected about 150 trees and raised $1,500 in this round, contributing to a 21-year total the trustee said "over $600,000" donated to the SAS Foundation. Trustee Berger and others highlighted a related Rotary raffle that funds scholarships; Berger said the raffle ticket price is $100 and that the Rotary has given about $20,000 in scholarships with a $30,000 fundraising goal this year.
The presentation concluded with board members encouraging residents to visit the winning displays and thanking volunteers and staff who helped stage the event and contest.
