Braintree council distributes committee rosters, unanimously refers new business to committees

At its Jan. 6 meeting, the Braintree Town Council announced committee assignments and voted to refer all remaining new business to those committees.

The presiding officer read the rosters distributed to councilors. The transcript lists Ways and Means with Chair Meredith Bareca and members including Councilor Reynolds, Councilor Flaherty, Councilor Maglio and Councilor Sterling; Ordinances and Rules with Chair Dave Ringus and members including Councilor Sterling, Councilor Reynolds, Quilty and Diuti; Public Safety with Chair Councilor Ringgis and members Councilor Reynolds and Councilor Maglio; Public Works with Chair Councilor Quilty and members Councilor Flaherty and Councilor Reynolds; Elder Affairs and Veteran Services with Chair Councilor Reynolds, vice chair Councilor Quilty and member Councilor Sterling; Parks and Recreation with Chair Councilor Diutti, vice chair Councilor Bridal and member Councilor Ringuis; Personnel with Chair Councilor Flaherty, vice chair Barica and member Councilor Ringuis; and Community Planning with Chair Councilor Maglio and vice chair Councilor Sterling with Councilor Diodi as a member.

An unidentified councilor moved "I move to refer all new business to their respective committees." The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote; the presiding officer stated, "It's unanimous." The transcript does not record individual roll-call votes or provide the name of the motion’s mover or seconder.

Council then confirmed its next regular meeting would be Tuesday in January 2026 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting concluded without additional action.
