The commission approved a fee waiver to support Tamalpais High School’s music program requests for a potluck fundraiser and three concert performances, allowing continued use of the Cascade Room and kitchen while the school undergoes construction.
Staff presented the request and recommended approval while maintaining a $600 refundable deposit to cover potential damages. "This recommendation will provide a discount of $8,221 in fee waivers from the total contract cost, leaving the remaining balance of $600 for the refundable deposit," staff said.
Amanda Brown, chair of the Tam High Unified Music Boosters, described the music building’s temporary demolition during construction and said off-campus venues are essential for larger concerts over the next two years. Commissioners moved and approved the staff recommendation by voice vote.
Staff noted the policy caps fee waivers at $10,000 per organization per fiscal year and said the application brings Tam High close to that limit; staff suggested clarifying how the cap applies to subunits of organizations in future policy revisions.
